Vehicle Purchase & Repair

When buying either a new or used vehicle, you should know your needs and research your options before ever starting to look. You must be willing to negotiate. If you're buying a new car, take time to learn the specialized vocabulary. Most importantly, you should know the type of financing that's right for you, and know the hidden costs.

Vehicle repairs involve finding a reputable repair shop and technician, understanding the language of repair charges, and understanding when vehicle warranties and service contracts apply.

We have been trying to get a payoff amount and release of loan letter from our current lender. Our new lender has all the paperwork ready for signing, but they have been getting the run around from our current lender. Our current lender will not give us or our new lender the information we need. Is this a legal practice? I tried looking on the FTC site, but there is nothing there pertaining to our particular situation.

We purchased the dishwasher back in September 2011 however since we are renovating the kitchen we just opened it. The bottom drawer is not fully closing and the technician confirmed that it cannot be fixed. He called the manufacturer and they agreed to replace it. A day later the manufacturer customer service called and told us we need to call the dealer since they do not cover transportation damages. The dealer is also refusing to replace it. We have been calling back and forth with no result. We are stuck with a brand new broken dishwasher under warranty that nobody would honor. Is that considered breach of warranty and if so what can we do?
Can you sue a collection company for misrepresenting themselves?
I have a friend who is seeking an attorney. The situation is that she has been getting phone calls from a collection company trying to collect on a debt. A representative from the collection company called my friend, left a voice mail saying that they are calling from a credit bureau naming the actual credit bureau on the voice mail. My friend feels that she is being harassed by the collection company. The collection company called and misrepresented themselves by claiming they were a credit bureau. Does my friend have a case, she has 2 or 3 other voice mails saved where the same collection company called and they''ve been saying they are from all over the place, but leaving the same phone number every time. Please advise...
